Pet sitting rates vary enormously by location, with major metro areas charging 50-100% more than rural areas. Independent sitters typically charge less than platform-based services (Rover, Wag) because they avoid the 15-25% platform fee. For regular services like daily dog walking, negotiate a recurring rate — many sitters offer 10-15% discounts for weekly bookings. When hiring a pet sitter, verify they have experience with your pet type, check references, and confirm they carry pet sitter insurance (or at minimum, are bonded).
